Civil and Structural Engineers Associates Program Positions

U.S. Department of State

Job Type: Full Time

Engineering Area(s): Civil & Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering

Academic Level: Senior (Graduating Soon)

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, has several opportunities for a newly created Associates program for those about to graduate.

These GS-8 equivalent, one-year contract positions provide competitive candidates with hands-on experiential learning, working on architectural and engineering projects alongside some of the most experienced professionals in the business.

Along the way, you will not only get an owner’s perspective on an incredibly challenging and rewarding overseas design/construction program but will learn about the consultant community who supports our program as you discern where you want to focus your career.

Within the Office of Design and Engineering, there are several divisions: Architectural (AD), Civil and Structural (CSE), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), and Interior Design (ID). Each division needs specific graduates with degrees in Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering, and Geographic Information Systems, as well as Climate/Environment practitioners.

Right now, our greatest need is for Civil and Structural Engineering graduates who are ready to learn and contribute to the work that leads to the design and construction of some of the most complex buildings in the world.

If you’re preparing to graduate in the spring, consider this your first step toward your future career. In return for your one-year commitment, you’ll obtain a U.S. Government security clearance and receive the training you’ll need to succeed in this position.

If you’re interested in pursuing this path, please upload a cover letter and resume.
