rPlus Energies, LLC (“rPlus”) is a renewable energy developer based in Salt Lake City, UT with a focus on developing, financing, constructing, owning, and operating strategically located, cost[1]competitive, large-scale renewable energy generation and storage projects that will support customers in achieving their clean energy goals while also contributing to the modernization of the bulk electric system. Since formation as a subsidiary of Gardner Company in 2018, rPlus has established a portfolio of over 30 projects across the U.S. representing nearly 10 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity, executed over 630 megawatts of corporate renewable PPAs, and commenced construction of its first utility scale project, an 80-megawatt solar power plant in Utah.

Position Overview:

rPlus is seeking a Manager of Interconnection and Transmission. The preferred candidate is an electrical engineer with both development and construction experience, especially in WECC. This position entails the oversight and leadership of the company’s interconnection positions from beginning to end, including liaising between development, construction, and utility teams, running technical studies, and advancing a multi-gigawatt portfolio of renewable energy generation and energy storage projects to commercial operation.

General Responsibilities:

– Lead interconnection process from request to commissioning across multiple utilities and
– ISOs/RTOs. Oversee interconnection studies and coordinate with construction teams.
– Work cross-functionally with origination, development, commercial, construction, and legal teams.
– Build relationships with utility generation interconnection and transmission departments.
– Negotiate and secure interconnection and transmission agreements in a timely and cost[1]effective manner.
– Lead process for supplementary studies like transmission service requests and load requests. Coordinate with engineering/technical resources.
– Support business development with interconnection studies and guidance.
– Forecast and report interconnection costs and risks.
– Provide strategic, market, commercial, and technical input on grid integration, schedules, costs, and efficient design to development, engineering, construction, and business development teams.
– Review preliminary electrical designs, site layouts, and construction drawings to optimize system design and meet utility requirements.

Location:

– Salt Lake City or Boise location strongly preferred (open to considering remote locations in limited circumstances and subject to experience and ability to travel)
– Travel requirement in the range of 10-25% on average (subject to location and further discussion)

Requirements:

– 5+ years of energy project development with emphasis on high voltage interconnection and transmission planning/operation required.
– 3+ years of direct experience in completed/commissioned “large generator” facility (as defined by NERC and FERC) interconnection and project construction strongly preferred.
– Minimum of bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
– Strong knowledge of FERC and ISO-level interconnection processes required (focus on WECC preferred)
– Working knowledge of wholesale energy markets and project development lifecycle is a bonus.
– Strong team management and project management skills required.
– Demonstrated excellence in organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
– PE license preferred.
– AutoCAD and/or GIS software proficiency is a bonus.
– PSSE, ASPEN, PSCAD, PSLF modeling experience is a bonus
