Civil Engineer Intern

Ogden City is looking for Civil and Environmental Engineering students who are eager to work and learn
the many aspects of municipal engineering. Interns will have the opportunity to work closely with city
engineers on sanitary sewer, storm drain, water, transportation, and sidewalk engineering projects. Interns
will gain on-site project management experience. You will learn to adhere to APWA standards and
regulations and how they apply in the field. If you are looking to spend the summer sitting at a desk, this
opportunity likely isn’t for you. Interns spend hours each day out of the office on job sites, working with
contractors, and working directly with the public.

There is a wide range of projects and tasks that interns can be involved with from sidewalk projects and
road reconstructions to utility installation and everything in between. Interns have had the opportunity to
help city engineers manage and inspect a variety of projects including:
· 20th street Road and Utility Reconstruction
· 26th street Road and Utility Reconstruction
· Ogden City Airport Sewer Line
· Weber River Kayak Recreation Park
· Storm Water Quality and SWPPP
· Create as Built Drawings for City Projects
· Sidewalk Replacement and Construction Program
· Surveying/GIS Mapping
These are just a few of the projects that interns have been apart of over the past couple of years. There
are many projects and tasks similar to these that will be going on throughout the summer.

Since Ogden works with many local firms in assistance with some of these projects many of the interns
who have worked here have gone on to receive job offers and potential future internships following the
summer.

This internship allows you to apply the things you have learned in the classroom, while gaining valuable
experience and connections that you could never receive in a classroom setting.
