The Price College of Engineering has partnered with the University of Utah’s Pre-Award Office to assist faculty in preparing and submitting proposals. The PAO manages most of the administrative components including eProposal setup, OSP engagement, document collection and upload, subaward coordination, and more. Please see the video below for an overview of the Pre-Award Office.

The PAO encourages investigators reach out as early as possible—ideally 6-8 weeks before the proposal deadline—to begin the process. You do not need a finalized idea or even a proposal title at that stage; the goal is simply to get on the PAO’s schedule so they can review the NOFO/FOA/RFP and help you develop a plan for preparing the budget and supporting documents.

PAO services include:

  • Budget – the PAO will work with the project team to create a complete budget proposal.
  • Ancillary Documents – the PAO will collect and review items like biosketches, current & pending, facilities, data management plans, technology maturation plans, project management plans, and other supporting documents to provide recommendations based on compliance and may also provide stylistic recommendations.
  • Research Documents – the PAO will review the main research narratives, like a research strategy or project to provide recommendations based on compliance.
  • Subaward Documents – the PAO will work with contracts offices of project partners to get all necessary agreements and documents for the proposal, including budgets, biosketches, current & pending, etc.
  • Final Documents for Compilation – after all revisions based on review recommendations are made, the PAO will compile the application based on agency guidelines and will upload the documents to the appropriate submission site. The PAO also works with the Office of Sponsored Projects to ensure compliance and to get the proposal submitted.
