Acute Engineering is a Utah-based engineering firm established in 2002. We specialize in structural engineering for residential and commercial projects and are among the most reputable residential engineering firms in Utah. We have a team of 50+ engineers and student interns, spread over 4 offices in Utah and Oregon. We are looking for highly motivated students to join our team in Sandy, Utah.

In July of 2023, Acute Engineering acquired Dynamic Structures Inc, a local engineering firm with experience in commercial, government and institutional projects such as the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium expansion, Altamont High School and Orem City Offices, among others. We are pleased to offer our student employees the opportunity to work on both light-frame construction projects from Acute Engineering and larger commercial projects from Dynamic Structures.

Job Description:

1. Perform structural analysis of buildings and components
2. Create framing plans and structural details using Bluebeam and AutoCAD/Revit
3. Review drawings and calculations for code compliance
4. Perform structural design for wood, steel, concrete, masonry and light-gage steel structures

Minimum Qualifications and Desired Skills:

1. Civil Engineering Student (Structural emphasis, 1-3 years from graduation)
2. Able to work a minimum of 15 hours/week year-round, with the option of working up to 40 hours/week as your schedule allows
3. Completed courses in Statics and Mechanics of Materials (required)
4. Completed course in Structural Analysis is desired but not required
5. Strong desire to learn and apply the knowledge you’ve gained in school to real-world problems
6. Good communication skills are essential

Candidates must have US work authorization and be able to work on-site in Sandy, UT. Hybrid work options may be available after an initial training period.
